Wafic M. ElMasri, MD

Dr. ElMasri was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon. He received his undergraduate bachelor's degree in chemistry from the American University of Beirut and earned his master's degree and doctor of medicine degree from AUC School of Medicine.

Dr. ElMasri completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center/Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago. He then joined Texas Tech University in 2005 where he served on the faculty of the Ob-Gyn department.

In 2007, he joined the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland as a CRTA research fellow and completed his NIH cancer research fellowship. He then joined the University of California Los Angeles/Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and completed a gynecologic oncology fellowship in 2012.

Dr. ElMasri specializes in the treatment and management of gynecologic malignancies and complex pelvic surgeries. He has a special interest in minimally-invasive surgery, including robotic-assisted surgery. His research interests include the role of macrophages in the pathogenesis of ovarian cancer and the role of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in the initiation of the carcinogenesis process.

At Community Health Network, Dr. ElMasri is a certified MD Anderson Cancer Network™ physician with access to evidence-based guidelines, treatment plans and concordance studies developed by MD Anderson oncology experts.

Dr. ElMasri enjoys traveling, dining and reading. He and his wife, Dania, live in Carmel and are blessed with sons Adam, Rayan and Daniel.
